Sofia - Psychotherapist in her 20s, Mexico
What initially brought you to therapy?
I felt a need to learn about the work of Bodynamic, and being a current student in the training I wanted to experience how that work would be applied to me.
What do you appreciate about the way I work?
I appreciate your presence and genuine support. I feel welcomed with whatever I’m going through. There’s a clarity in how you hold space that helps me not feel lost or overwhelmed. Instead, I feel safe enough to be honest, to bring my real experience without fear of judgment.
Is there anything in particular that helped you grow or see things differently?
Yes. Being more conscious of my body posture and how working with it and creating more space also creates more space for my emotions and choices. This has given me more clarity and a sense of respect to what I go through, feeling more confident while at the same time I am able to learn the tools my body carries.
How do you feel therapy has made a difference in your life?
It has allowed me to be more present, feel connected to myself and people around me and to honor my vulnerability in a way that feels authentic.
How do you experience the process of transferring the insights or changes from therapy into your everyday life?
I believe this is the first time in therapy that I truly feel such direct changes in my day to day life. I can now experience my body as a source of support, rather than something to fight against. Instead of battling my defenses, I’ve started to integrate them, which has brought a greater sense of strength and stability into my life. I am learning to pause and differentiate between the now and the past stories I tell myself, this has allowed me to be more present and connected to myself and others. I am more caring in the way I talk to myself.
If someone were unsure whether to start therapy or work with me – what would you tell them?
Go for it :) It is a beautiful and rich experience to come back to the body.
Do you feel that I come prepared and create a clear, caring, and constructive frame around our sessions?
Yes, I definitely do. I feel that you come prepared and create a caring, structured space that supports me throughout our sessions. There’s a clear framework that allows me to explore my process with confidence. I also sense a genuine interest in my personal growth, which makes me feel seen, respected, and motivated to continue this process.
